What we do in the UK

Four things that move the number, done properly

The UK is one of the most competitive search markets in the world. Half measures do not rank here, so we go deeper on fewer things rather than spreading thin across a long service list.

Search visibility that survives a core update

Ranking for a term is easy. Holding it through three algorithm updates is the part most UK agencies quietly avoid talking about. We build topical depth rather than chasing individual keywords.

  • Technical foundation first. Crawl budget, Core Web Vitals and indexation fixed before a single word is written.
  • Content in British English. Written for UK buyers, not localised from American copy after the fact.
  • Digital PR for real links. Coverage in UK publications, not directory submissions and guest post farms.
  • Local schema per branch. Google Business Profile handled properly for multi location businesses.

Paid campaigns judged on cost per sale, not clicks

UK cost per click has climbed every year since 2021. That means structure and creative matter more than budget size. We run tight, test weekly and kill what stalls instead of letting it bleed.

  • Google Ads built for intent. Search, Shopping and Performance Max structured so they stop competing with each other.
  • Meta creative on a testing cycle. New angles every fortnight, winners scaled, losers cut without sentiment.
  • Tracking set up before spend. Server side events and offline conversions, so the numbers actually reconcile.
  • VAT aware reporting. ROAS calculated on what you keep, not what the platform claims.

Local SEO that puts you in the map pack, branch by branch

Around half of UK searches carry local intent, and the map pack sits above the organic results. If your branches are not in it, the click has already gone to a competitor before your website gets a look.

  • Google Business Profile per location. Categories, services, opening hours, photos and posts kept current rather than set once and forgotten.
  • Real location pages. A proper page per branch with its own content, LocalBusiness schema and NAP details, not one thin page listing every town.
  • Citations cleaned up. Yell, Thomson Local, Bing Places and the sector directories that matter, with consistent details across all of them.
  • Reviews on a schedule. A request process your team can actually keep up with, plus responses that read like a person wrote them.
GEO UK brand cited as a source inside a Google AI Overview answer

Generative engine optimisation for AI search

A growing share of UK buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews before they ever open a list of blue links. Those answers cite a handful of sources. GEO is the work of making sure yours is one of them.

  • Answer led content structure. Clear definitions, direct answers and clean headings, because that is the shape language models quote from.
  • Entity and schema work. Organisation, Product, FAQ and LocalBusiness markup so machines understand what you are, not just what you sell.
  • Citation building where models look. Coverage and mentions on the UK sources that feed AI training and retrieval, not link farms.
  • Visibility tracking across AI answers. Monthly checks on where you are cited, where a competitor is cited instead, and what changed.

Every figure below is taken from the client's own Search Console, Business Profile or ad account over the period stated.

Roofing Local search map pack results for a UK roofing client

Westmorland Roofing

Cumbria · Local search & map pack

3,359Business Profile actions
268Calls from local search
843Actions in peak month
25.1KSearch clicks, 16 months

A family run roofing firm competing across Cumbria with almost no map pack presence outside its own town. We rebuilt the Business Profile properly, gave every service area its own page instead of one thin list, and put review requests on a routine the team could keep. Local visibility climbed month on month and the phone became the main enquiry channel again.

Tom came to us with a large trade catalogue that was almost invisible in search. Category pages carried thin copy and competed against each other on the same terms. We restructured the range, wrote proper UK English category content and fixed the internal linking so authority flowed to the pages that actually sell. A 3.6 percent click through rate at position 12 tells us the titles are earning clicks well above what that position usually delivers.

Paid media Google Ads dashboard showing 401 conversions from 1.4K clicks for a UK campaign

1.4KClicks from 15.3K views
£3Approx cost per conversion

Kevin's spend was spread thin across broad keywords that filled the account with clicks and almost no enquiries. We rebuilt the campaign around high intent search terms only, tightened match types and rewrote the ads to match the landing page. Turning 1.4K clicks into 401 conversions puts the account well above the usual benchmark for this kind of campaign.

Questions

What UK clients ask before signing

What does a UK campaign cost to run?
It depends on how competitive your terms are and whether we are rebuilding foundations or scaling something that already works. We quote after the audit, never before, because a number given without seeing your site is a guess dressed up as a proposal.
How long until we see results?
Paid campaigns produce usable data in the first fortnight and usually stabilise by week six. Organic search depends on your starting position and competition, with honest movement typically between month three and month six. Anyone promising faster on organic in the UK is guessing.
Do you work with businesses outside London?
Most of our UK clients are outside London. Regional markets are frequently less competitive on search, which means budget goes further. We work remotely and report on GMT, so where you are based rarely matters.
Are we locked into a long contract?
No. We work on rolling terms after an initial period long enough for the work to be fairly judged. If the numbers are not moving and we cannot explain why, you should be free to leave.
Will we own the accounts and the work?
Yes. Ad accounts, analytics, Search Console and any content produced stay in your name and remain yours if we part ways. We will not hold access hostage as a retention tactic.
What is GEO and do we actually need it yet?
GEO stands for generative engine optimisation: getting your brand cited inside AI answers from tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews. Whether you need it now depends on your sector. If your buyers research before purchase, they are already asking AI tools, and being absent from those answers costs you visibility you never see in analytics. Much of the groundwork overlaps with good SEO, so it is rarely a separate budget line.
Do you handle both SEO and paid, or just one?
Either. Running both together usually works better because paid data tells us which terms convert before we commit months of SEO effort to them. Plenty of clients start with one channel and add the other once the first is performing.
