Shopify website design built around how people actually buy

A store that wins design awards and loses carts is a failed project. We start with your existing session recordings and checkout data to find the exact steps where people give up, then design around those moments instead of guessing from a mood board.

  • Mobile designed first, not squeezed later. Most Shopify traffic arrives on a phone, so layouts start at 375px wide with thumb reach, tap targets and a sticky add to cart worked out before the desktop view exists.
  • Product pages that answer the doubt. Sizing, shipping times, returns and reviews placed at the point where hesitation actually happens, rather than hidden in an accordion nobody opens.
  • Collection pages people can filter. Faceted navigation, sensible sort options and filters built from your real product data, so a large catalogue stops feeling like a maze.
  • A design system you can extend. Type scale, spacing and reusable sections documented and handed over, so your team can build new pages later without the store slowly falling apart.

Shopify development services that go beyond a theme swap

Most stores do not slow down overnight. They slow down one app at a time, until fourteen subscriptions are loading scripts on every page and nobody remembers what half of them do. We build the features you need into the theme itself, so the store stays fast and the monthly bill stops climbing.

  • Custom Liquid instead of stacked apps. Bundles, badges, upsells and swatches written into the theme, which usually removes several paid apps and the scripts that came with them.
  • Integrations that fail loudly. ERP, 3PL, inventory and CRM connected through proper APIs with retries and error logging, not an automation chain that stops syncing and tells nobody.
  • Checkout extended the supported way. Shopify Functions and checkout extensibility for discounts, shipping rules and subscriptions, so you keep Shop Pay speed and nothing breaks at the next platform update.
  • Headless only when it earns it. Hydrogen makes sense for large catalogues and complex front ends. For most stores it adds cost and fragility, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Support that keeps the store fast long after launch day

Handover is where most agency relationships quietly end. Six months later the store has picked up four new apps, the speed score has dropped by thirty points and nobody can say when it happened. We stay on, and we measure the store the same way after launch as we did before it.

  • A speed budget that is enforced. Every release is checked against agreed performance limits, and a new app that pushes the store past them does not go live until it is dealt with.
  • Testing tied to revenue. Monthly experiments on product and checkout pages, judged on revenue per session rather than clicks, with losing tests rolled back and reported honestly.
  • Ready before peak season. Load testing, a staging copy of the store and a tested rollback plan in place well before your biggest trading weekend, not during it.
  • One developer who knows your store. The same person who built it handles your requests, so you are not explaining your setup again to whoever picks up the ticket.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify development cost?

It depends on how much of the store is custom. A design refresh on an existing theme sits at the lower end, while a fully custom Liquid build with ERP and subscription integrations sits at the top. Our custom builds start at [insert your starting price]. We scope the whole project before quoting, so the figure you agree is the figure you pay, with no change requests appearing halfway through the build.

How long does it take to build a Shopify store?

A custom Shopify build usually runs six to ten weeks from kickoff to launch. A redesign on an existing theme is faster, often three to four weeks. Complex work such as ERP syncing, subscriptions or multi-currency adds time, and we flag which parts of the timeline carry risk before you sign rather than after.

Can you redesign our existing store, or do you only take new builds?

Both, and most of our work is on stores that are already trading. That is the harder job, because conversion has to improve without disrupting sales while it happens. We work on a staging copy of your store, test everything there, and push live in a window that suits your trading pattern rather than ours.

Do we own the code once the store is live?

Yes. The theme, any custom apps built for you and the repository are all yours. There is no proprietary framework you have to keep paying us to maintain, and if you move to another agency later they will find clean, documented code instead of a puzzle.

Do you migrate stores from WooCommerce or Magento to Shopify?

Yes. We move products, customers, orders and content across, and map every old URL to its new one with 301 redirects so your search rankings survive the switch. Migrations fail on the redirect map far more often than on the product data, which is why that is where most of our time goes.

What happens after the store goes live?

Support runs as a monthly retainer, not a handover email. It covers bug fixes, speed monitoring against an agreed performance budget, new sections as you need them, and conversion testing on your product and checkout pages. If you would rather run the store in house, that is fine too, and everything is documented either way.
